GET INVOLVED
Come along to our Annual General Meeting
This is usually held towards the end of February and is always open to the public. It’s a
chance to tell us what you love about Wigan Pride events you’ve been to so far and what
you would like us to do differently in the future. We will put some information about the
meeting on our social media channels when the date has been arranged.
Become a committee member
The people who run the event each year are all part of the Wigan Pride Committee, a mix of
volunteers and staff from Wigan Council and the NHS.
Everyone on the committee has a different responsibility, from chairing the meetings, to
taking notes, to booking the artists, looking after press enquiries, or managing the budget.
Being on the committee is an exciting opportunity to shape the event, but it is a responsibility
and requires commitment. The committee meets once a month but there is an expectation that members progress
tasks in between meetings to make sure we can deliver the event in August.
We are currently looking for people to take up the following voluntary committee roles.
To apply for one of these positions, please send in a letter detailing your relevant experience
for your chosen role and why you are passionate about leading Wigan Pride to: info@wiganpride.com

Volunteer on the day
Volunteering on the day can be a great way to get involved with Wigan Pride if you haven’t been involved before.
We always need stewards to work from approx. 10am-5pm to do tasks such as supporting the parade, looking after the artists, keeping a general eye on public safety, signposting journalists or photographers to our media officer and any other tasks that may come along on the day.
You would be give a full briefing, free Wigan Pride steward T-Shirt and (hopefully!) a free lunch.
Email info@wiganpride.com to express your interest for the next Wigan Pride event.
Take part in the Pride march

Perform
Artists on our Believe Stage (for up-and-coming local artists) are selected after an audition process led by our local BYOU LGBTQ+ youth group, so there’s a chance to get involved there too. Take a look at our social media pages where we’ll share information on the auditions when available. Auditions for the Believe Stage are usually held in May.
Artists on our main Unity Stage are usually selected by our entertainment team well in advance of the Wigan Pride event and are chosen based on the team’s knowledge, performances they have seen at other events, and suitability for our event and theme. We do not hold open auditions for performances on the main stage.
